Acquisition of equipment from the Ruger-Seacast foundry in Arizona
This represents an investment worth about $600,000
Alphacasting has acquired the core of Ruger-Seacrest foundry’s equipment. This
will help Alphacasting to continue its expansions plans, which were rendered
possible thanks to the addition of two new properties adjacent to its existing
Montreal factory. These latest developments will improve Alphacasting’s delivery
deadlines, thus helping the company to increase its production capacity by
producing pieces as large as 40 square cubes.
The equipment acquired by Alphacasting includes:
2 pre-heating ovens
1 MPI 20-tonne injection machine
1 100-tonne injection machine
3 grinders, including 1 automated grinder
3 jet-washing machines
2 heating ovens
1 carbon analyzer
Major military and aerospace contracts signed
Alphacasting is proud to announce the signing of two major three-year contracts
in the military and aerospace sectors.
Important research project into vacuum alloy system
Alphacasting is embarking on an important research project with two partners
from the medical and military sectors. The goal of this project is to introduce two
new vacuum alloys. This research and development project will allow
Alphacasting to better position itself in the field of exotic metals, with deeper
knowledge in the combination of titanium alloys.
Through this project, Alphacasting will introduce significant modifications to its
VIM oven in order to integrate cold crucible pouring capabilities. This modification
will allow Alphcasting to adapt its oven and to use the cold crucible as often as
the conventional crucible.
The VIM cold crucibles weigh 100, 200 and 350 pounds.
Conventional crucibles weigh 100, 200, 300 and 400 pounds.
Alphacasting will invest more than $1 million over the next three years, or 30 per
cent of the budget required, to complete these studies.
New services at Alphacasting
Alphacasting now offers complete services in the conception of all 3D designs,
thanks to its acquisition of a UNIGRAFICS platform. Alphacasting’s team of
engineers now includes a specialist in the area of 3D modelling. This means that Alphacasting’s creative department can better assist clients in the search for
innovative solutions, but, more importantly, in solutions that are ultra-performing
and bring results.
Alphacasting offers full support in the development and assistance for all new
projects and the production of prototypes.
Alphacasting has begun its transition phase as it prepares to move its tooling
division to 393 St. Croix Street. This expansion will allow Alphacasting to relocate
its tooling department and to make the eventual expansion run more smoothly.
In Memoriam Jean Rodriguez
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Mr.
Jean Rodriguez. As production supervisor in our factories, we often
got a firsthand look at how he carried out his work with competency
and passion, especially in the area of human resources. Jean had a
strong ability to inspire team spirit and a sense of initiative, as
he wholeheartedly involved himself in advancing the progression of
lost wax investment casting. Despite some differences of opinion and
vision, which invariably occur in all companies, we always
appreciated the work that Jean carried out for Alphacasting.
On behalf of the entire Alphacasting team and all those who worked in
our factories with Jean, we extend our deepest condolences to the
Rodriguez family.
Jean, you will forever be remembered. Rest in peace, good friend.

Death of Ted Szabo - Alphacasting loses a first-rate partner and friend

It is with profound shock and sadness that we have learned of the death of Ted Szabo, a loyal friend and partner. Mr. Szabo had the distinction of being Alphacasting’s first client. Ever since this initial contact, Ted Szabo became a friend, and this friendship was continuously fostered by his trademark laughter and appreciation of life that he communicated so easily.
His sudden departure hits us particularly hard at Alphacasting, as Ted stood by our side throughout our long and wonderful adventure. This great builder revolutionized the market for the 1911 model pistols by introducing advanced technologies and stunning creations. He led his company with vision and foresight, which brought him to the summit of his industry.
Alphacasting’s employees and management offer their most sincere condolences to Ted’s wife, Euphrossyni, his parents, Bill and Helen, and his son, Nicolas.
Ted, we shall never forget you. Nicolas, we stand by you at this difficult time.
